Ivana Jakovljevic | VISUAL ARTIST
Animae
Spanning large-scale canvases and intimate studies, this collection explores biomorphic abstraction, raw organic movement, and atmospheric tension. Operating at the intersection of structure and chaos, the works serve as visual maps of the subconscious mind. Layered acrylics, rich color palettes, and deliberate surface disruptions like gold leaf are used to capture the fluid geography of internal growth, emotional memory, and psychological surrender.

01
“Crucible Animae”
Medium: Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
Dimensions: 121.9 cm W x 182.9 cm H
This composition continues my exploration of biomorphic forms and the tension between chaos and order. While my previous work utilized a more muted, earthy palette, this piece pushes further into a visceral, red-toned intensity that evokes raw organic processes - much like the inner workings of a living system or the fluid geography of the subconscious.

"Womb"
Medium: Acrylic, Gesso, Gold Leaf, Pastel on Canvas
Dimensions: 91.4 W x 91.4 H cm
A foundational study in biomorphic architecture, Womb serves as a primordial starting point for my ongoing investigations. The composition relies on the organic containment of space, exploring the protective and generative qualities of the subconscious mind. It is here that I began to refine the fluid lines and deep, layered palettes that have since evolved into the larger-scale psychological landscapes of my current work, grounding the series in a sense of origin and internal growth.

“Great Cold”
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 182.9 W x 152.4 H cm
This painting is a study of movement and structural density, further developing my focus on biomorphic abstraction and atmospheric tension. I utilized a layered application of acrylics and mixed media to build a surface that evokes both the rigid complexity of geological structures and the fluid, unpredictable nature of cellular growth.

“Pacific storm”
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 182.9 W x 124.5 H cm
This work continues my exploration of biomorphic forms and the tension between chaos and order. I chose to work with a rich, deep palette to evoke raw, visceral organic processes - mirroring the inner workings of a living system or the fluid geography of the subconscious.

“The internal gives way”
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 182.9 W x 121.9 H cm
There is a profound freedom in the moment the internal gives way - where the subconscious mind releases its hold and offers up its deepest layers to be transformed into color and form. This work maps that threshold of surrender. It is an exploration of the vital, chaotic space where constraints dissolve, and the soul’s most guarded insights are finally given the room to expand.
